Three people were killed early Saturday morning when a tractor-trailer hit a car being towed on Interstate 75 southbound near Glade Road in Bartow County.

The passengers killed were in the Chevrolet Monte Carlo being towed by a box-truck around 4:30 a.m. in the far-right lane.

When the tractor-trailer hit the Monte Carlo, the car burst into flames. There lights on the Monte Carlo were not on, according to a preliminary Georgia State Patrol investigation.

"The car was totally engulfed [in flames]," Said Matt Savage, communications equipment officer for the GSP. "Everything was destroyed."

Because of the fire, none of the victims were able to be identified. The GSP also could not determine where the car was from.
